This weekend, Piedmonters of all ages from all corners of the city will kick off the Community Pool for Piedmont Campaign to pass Measure UU. For more than 50 years, the Piedmont Pool has been at the literal and figurative heart of our community. Generations of children have learned to swim in our only local pool. Since its closure, it has never been more evident how much Piedmont needs this pool.

“After serving families and high school athletes well beyond its useful life, our pool no longer functions reliably or cost-effectively. The time has come to replace this indispensable civic asset with an affordable new facility to provide Piedmont citizens with a safe and sustainable community pool for the next 50 years,” Anne Callahan, Co-Chair of the Community Pool forPiedmont Campaign.

“Measure UU will pay for the rebuilding of the Piedmont Pool. With historically low interest rates, the cost to median homeowners will be less than 75 cents a day. If Piedmont does not replace this facility, we will become the only school district in Alameda County that doesn’t have a local pool for its schools or citizens,” said Amy Aubrecht, Co-Chair of the Community Pool for Piedmont Campaign.

“We are excited to lead this effort to rebuild the Piedmont Pool. The pool has made an indelible mark on each of our lives – as student-athletes, swimmers, and parents. We know many of you share our passion for this valuable community resource,” said Vince Saunders, Co-Chair of the Community Pool for Piedmont Campaign.
